Car Seat Program
Child Passenger Safety Program (Car Seat Program)
The purpose of this program is to provide needy families that fall under the low income status a child safety seat for their children. This program is designed to reduce the infant mortality rate in regards to child passenger safety.
This program is being presented by a state funded grant referred to as a mini-grant geared toward child passenger safety. In order to obtain the child safety seat, one must take part in a child passenger safety class to obtain the necessary information to help them properly install their car seat. Expectant parents can call their local participating health department to sign up for the class as soon as they learn of their pregnancy and have an estimated date of delivery. It is very important for parents to call before the baby is due; no car seats will be given on the “spot”. The child safety seat class has to be completed before obtaining a seat.
