Travel Immunizations
To help prevent illness while away, travel-medicine experts recommend that visitors to foreign countries check to see what vaccines or preventatives are required before traveling. Lowndes County Health Department offers most travel vaccines and is an approved Yellow Fever Vaccine site. Persons interested in getting travel vaccines should call the health department (229-333-5257) in advance to check on vaccine availability.
Anyone traveling should check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Travelers’ Guide website to see what vaccinations will be needed for their area of travel before contacting the health department: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/
